Whitlock beats Glasgow
Well, not the whole town (tough lot them) but Simon Whitlock beat local hero 6-4 in week 6 of the McCoy’s Premier League. This moved Whitlock into 2nd place in the series behind…well, you know. def. The big issue in Whitlock/Anderson is that Simon managed to keep his head amidst the notoriously rowdy Glasgow crowd. It was only a year ago that Lenny Boyle, writing for the Mirror, referred to the Anderson/Lewis match as a day that shall live in [darts] infamy. I’m sure the Scotsmen were (mostly) embarrassed over last year’s nonsense and were relieved to put last year behind them. Oh yeah…Taylor won again.
Another day at The Oche
Just wanted to keep everyone updated with the changes at The Oche. First, we’ve changed the layout completely. It was time for something new and we’re hoping the format will be more readable and you’ll find what you’re looking for that much easier. Next, we’ve updated most of our news feeds. Check out the UK Darts News page for a look. Finally we updated some old tools, added some new page stubs and started re-connecting all the bits and bobs so things actually work. It’s still early days but we wanted you to see where we’re heading. Tell us what you think. Do you have any ideas? Is your favorite page missing? (we’ll get Davey back from his nap to fix it.) As always, we love getting comments from you.

Hello everyone, long time no post!
Hello darts guys’n'gals that read TheOche.com. First of all, let me apologize for the long delay in posting anything here. Secondly, let me apologize in advance for the post I’m about to make… As I’m sure you have noticed, there hasn’t been a new darts news post here on The Oche for quite some time now, not since August 03, 2011 to be exact. During this time, I have gone through several things in the real world, and during it all, I’ve been doing some soul searching regarding this website. Darts in my area is pretty much non-existent, and this coupled with other “real world” pursuits have forced me to put The Oche on the back burner during this time. I thought that my absence from the site would eat at me…nag away until I would force myself to dig up some kind of darts news and post it here for you. Quite to the contrary…not having the worry of maintaining this site has been somewhat liberating. This all brings me to the purpose of my post today. As of right now…The Oche is no more. The website and domain will stay here as an archive of sorts for any and all past postings [...]

Barney en Stompé maken Nederland wereldkampioen

HOUGHTON-LE-SPRING - Nederland is de eerste winnaar van de PDC World Cup of Darts, het WK voor landenteams. Raymond van Barneveld en Co Stompé versloegen in de finale Wales. Omdat de individuele partijen in een gelijkspel eindigden, moest een dubbelspel - goed voor twee punten - het verschil maken: 4-2.

De Hagenaar won zijn eerste duel eenvoudig van Barrie Bates (8-4), waarna de Amsterdammer in een bloedstollend duel onderuit ging tegen Mark Webster (6-8). Ook Barney verloor vervolgens met dezelfde cijfers van de uitmuntend gooiende Welshman.

Door een overwinning van een erg sterke Stompé in het laatste individuele duel tegen Bates (8-5) moest een dubbelspel de duo's van goud en zilver scheiden.

Nederland, als tweede geplaatst, was in de voorronde te sterk voor Duitsland, waarna in de groepsfase alle wedstrijden (tegen Australië, Canada en Oostenrijk) in winst werden omgezet. In de halve finale wonnen Van Barneveld en Stompé, als tweede geplaatst, van Spanje.

De Engelsen favorieten, Phil Taylor en James Wade, werden in de voorronde verrassend uitgeschakeld door diezelfde Spanjaarden.
